Host Brenda Meder interviews Camarillo, California resident Doloris Pfeifer Pederson, former Kansan.

Pederson says that she uses art "to express myself with drawing and painting is as natural to me as breathing."

Pederson received art degree from Fort Hays State University. She majored in art because she says, "Art is you on paper." She credits her family, saying they have much influence upon her art. She began creating art pieces by the use of a graphite pencil, and many of her pieces of work were things from Kansas that she took with her when she moved to California. She mainly focuses on still-life images.

Pederson began broadening her expertise while painting landscapes after moving to California. Many of the paintings that she produces are reminiscent of her family, especially her parents. She tells Meder that when she creates a painting containing flowers, she is paying tribute to her mother. She says that she communicates to her family and the farm, where she was born, through her work and paintings. She has always had a passion to paint Kansas themed works.

Meder and Pederson look at the many pieces of art she displays and visit the Kansas farm where she was raised.
